To be eligible for submitting an application for Australian Skilled Permanent Residency, commonly known as EOI (Expression of Interest) your profile should match Australia’s skilled occupation list.

This list is divided into 3 categories:

  • SOL – Short Term Skilled Occupation List
  • MLTSSL – Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List
  • ROL – Regional Occupation List

To submit an EOI, Australian Immigration has an online tool called Skill Select. For securing employment and a work based visa the Australian Skilled Migration Program is the best way way to secure your visa. This covers the occupations included in the list of Skilled Occupations List (SOL).

Practical skills and knowledge are provided by Australian universities, colleges and schools. Australian qualifications are globally recognised and can help you to succeed in the global workforce.

After the completion of your degree you will be eligible to work and study in Australia and you’re able to work up to 20 hours per week alongside your study. ESOS ACT (Education Services for Oversees Students) is implemented for protecting the rights of international students studying in Australia.

An appropriate visa is required either for permanent or temporary living and working in Australia.

Skilled Migration Visa or Nominated/Sponsored Work Visa is needed for permanent or temporary living and working. A Skilled Migration Visa is for foreign skilled workers who have skills needed by the Australian labour market and who meet the other required criteria.

Nominated/Sponsored Visas are designed for those who meet other required criteria and are sponsored or nominated by a recognised employer or a Territory or State Government Agency.

Sponsored Visas are based on sponsorship by an employer i.e., you must be sponsored by an approved business in Australia. To be a permanent resident in Australia, you need a permanent visa. The three ways to apply for this are through:

1 – Family Stream Permanent Visa

2 – Work Stream Permanent Visa

3 – Business or Investor Stream Permanent Visa

Family Stream Permanent Visa is exclusively granted for families and includes partners, children, parents or dependent relatives of an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia, an eligible New Zealand citizen, children being adopted or in the process of being adopted outside of Australia and carers who need to shift to Australia for caring for a relative.

Work Stream Permanent Visa is for workers who are sponsored by an employer to work in Australia.

Business or Investor Stream Permanent Visa is granted for businesses or investors.
